Executive Vice President - Development

Primary Function:

Direct the day-to-day operations of the business unit, implementing plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives, maximizing operating results. Member of Executive Team. Position reports to COO.

Typical Duties:

  • Establish and implement corporate policies, procedures, and organizational structure within the framework of broad corporate policy.
  • Direct and monitor short-term and long-range plans consistent with overall profit and growth objectives.
  • Plan, staff, and supervise all assigned corporate activities through business unit and department managers providing integration of multiple functions into cohesive work unit.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and direction to direct reports and others regarding their professional development while developing and maintaining through communications, delegation of responsibility, and delegation of authority, a competent management team.
  • Coordinate and confer with professional staff to resolve operating problems and difficulties, authorize department operational procedure, and approve all major contracts and land purchase instruments.
  • Responsible for establishing and achieving corporate budget and reporting variances to budget. Work with business unit controller to prepare forecasts and cash for projections. Maintain positive financial posture for assigned operational, divisional, and/or subsidiary work segments and monitor cost analysis activities on a routine basis.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by the COO.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:

Educational and experience requirements include: 4 year technical or business administration degree or equivalent (advanced degree – MBA – preferred), plus experience in the management of companies. Advanced knowledge of the real estate development and/or construction industry and company operations required. Extensive knowledge of financial operations, marketing, and employee relations required. Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills are a necessity. Minimum 15 years experience in Development and a minimum of 5 years experience in leading a department or business unit.

Position has overall profit/loss responsibility for assigned operational units and requires excellent business administration skills.
